Study: Higher initial weight loss yields better results

Data from 12 weight-loss studies involving almost 1,000 overweight and obese people show that those who lost the most weight during the initial stages of their diet and exercise programs had more long-term success because all dieters gained back about half of their lost weight. The study authors said further studies are needed, although they recommend an initial weight loss of at least 10% in obese or overweight patients to achieve long-term success.
