Canadian researchers win grants to study animal diseases

Fifty-five researchers representing nine Canadian universities were awarded grants Wednesday to fund ongoing projects studying prion diseases in animals and humans. In one of the projects, researchers at the University of Alberta are studying the risk factors related to chronic wasting disease in wild deer and elk and the risks to hunters and people who eat the infected meat.
