Rocketship Education plans expansion of blended-learning schools

The Rocketship Education charter network is seeking to open 20 new schools by 2017 in California's Santa Clara County. The network, which has financial backing from the leaders of Facebook and Netflix, features a blended-learning approach to education that combines classroom instruction with computer gaming and attracts many students from low-income households. However, those opposed to the expansion plan question whether it will divert resources and students from traditional public schools.
