Economists expect U.S. data this week to be positive

Polled economists expect U.S. figures due today will show a rise of 0.8% in consumer retail spending in June, the biggest gain in four months, while other figures this week are expected to point to continued gains in housing and industrial production. "The transition from a soft patch to a more sustained rebound is slowly beginning to take shape," said Millan Mulraine, director of U.S. rates research at TD Securities.
