Iowa city seeks additional waste-to-ethanol proposals

Iowa City, Iowa, is planning to issue a request for proposals from companies that could convert waste at a city-operated landfill into ethanol. Fiberight, which has been in talks with the city, says as much as 80% of solid waste going to the landfill could be cut by its proposed waste-to-ethanol plant. The city also wants to hear from other companies with similar technology. Proposals will be accepted until Sept. 12.
