Sales surge may drive early end to India's seasonal discounts

Retail chains in India may end their end-of-season sales as much as two weeks early this year, as 50% discounts drive stronger-than-expected traffic and sales at stores including Central, Pantaloons and Zara. India's retailers offer the sales twice a year, in January and July, to sell off last season's leftovers to make way for new merchandise.
