Senate bill would increase NIH funding by 7%

A Senate spending committee passed a bill to increase the budget for the National Institutes of Health by 7%. The bill would give NIH a $31 billion budget, expands Alzheimer's research and extends public access to research papers to more agencies. The budget is $147 million less than President Barack Obama had requested. The bill goes to the full Senate for a vote.
