Commentary: Docs should use their expertise to influence debates on coverage decisions

Interventionists should get involved on the local and national levels to ensure that coverage decisions, such as permitting TAVR coverage for Medicare patients, are well-informed, writes SCAI fellow Dr. Larry Dean. Such decisions are "being made every day and in every state" and have national implications, he writes. "[A]s patient advocates we must use our deep understanding of the issues to truly inform the process. We must be vigilant, proactive and involved," Dean writes.
