Proposal in Japan would make early education more rigorous

Kindergarten and preschool students in Japan could soon be learning material once covered in first grade under curriculum revisions now under consideration. The proposal calls for integrating lessons in "life-environment" -- which focus on hands-on activities -- in preschool and kindergarten, and possibly introducing language study as early as preschool.
