Crisis over Fannie, Freddie hampers Bernanke's agenda

Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke's efforts to map out a forecast-based strategy to counter inflation have been foiled by the recent crisis involving Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the latest example of events outpacing Bernanke's agenda. When Bernanke testifies before Congress today, lawmakers' questions will largely concern the troubled lenders, Fed watchers say.
