Lawyers, pols spar over Google-Yahoo! deal

Top lawyers for Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! appeared in hearings convened by the House and Senate Judiciary panels to discuss the regulatory and antitrust implications of a search ad partnership between Yahoo! and Google. Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith summed up his objections, saying: "If Google makes more money, then Yahoo! makes more money. That is not the way the market is supposed to work."
