Several device firms named in off-label marketing lawsuits

An industry whistle-blower filed lawsuits against Boston Scientific, Medtronic, St. Jude Medical and four other medical-device makers, alleging they marketed their surgical ablation devices for off-label uses, according to a federal judge in Houston. Spokesmen for Medtronic and St. Jude Medical said the companies will defend themselves against the claims in court. A spokesman for Boston Scientific declined to comment on the issue.
