Tax break allows glass plant to renovate, stay put

A one-time tax break of $500,000 will allow the Saint Gobain glass plant in Louisiana -- and its 300 workers -- to stay put and complete renovation of two aging furnaces. Special legislation signed by Gov. Bobby Jindal opened the door for plant officials to avoid paying the sales tax on new materials for its $52 million furnace-replacement project.
