Analyst: Fliers could see free Wi-Fi next year

With most airline passengers resisting paid Wi-Fi, some experts say airlines will likely find ways to make the service free -- perhaps as early as next year. Because the technology costs money, airlines could recoup their expenses through corporate sponsorships or commissions on in-flight sales, according to consultant Michael Planey, who believes the move toward free Wi-Fi will start with discount carriers.
