Health IT leaders respond to final meaningful use rule

The just-released final rule on meaningful use received a largely positive reaction from industry stakeholders, but others were displeased. A GE Healthcare executive hailed the rule's menu approach, saying it "substantially reduces the success thresholds, which makes the requirements more achievable but still challenging." Meanwhile, a privacy expert said the rule "watered down or eliminated all the new patient protections required in HITECH."
