Patient-centered medical homes need input from patients

Health care experts expect patients to receive better primary care from patient-centered medical homes, but a report on a national demonstration project that converted traditional doctor's offices into medical homes revealed that patient satisfaction with the new arrangement was unexpectedly low. Learning from this experience, researchers now recognize the importance of engaging patients and better understanding their needs in any effort to refine primary care practices.
