Treasury plans to propose in 2011 an overhaul of housing finance

Neal Wolin, deputy secretary of the Treasury Department, said the government will propose an overhaul of housing finance early next year. The Treasury decided against trying to push the measure, including a reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, into legislation to overhaul financial regulation to avoid bogging it down.
