U.S. asks court to reverse order halting troop discharges

The Department of Justice has filed a motion asking a federal appeals court to allow the "don't ask, don't tell" policy to continue while the Pentagon prepares to end it under a process ordered by Congress last year. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit had earlier ordered an end to all troop discharges under the policy while it reviews a lower court decision that found it unconstitutional.
