AAFP members help shape AMA policies on tobacco, obesity

AAFP delegates to the AMA House of Delegates 2013 annual meeting helped shape the group's policies on tobacco management and obesity. AAFP President Jeff Cain, M.D., lobbied against a plan to discourage use of pharmacotherapy for smoking cessation, and AAFP resident delegate Michelle Cooke, M.D., said classifying obesity as a disease would allow physicians to "better focus treatment for our patients."
