Editorial: CFTC cross-border regulation falls short

The compromise that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission reached on the international application of derivatives rules does not go far enough in establishing cross-border regulation, The New York Times' editorial board argues. The deal could still be strengthened in the coming months, but as it stands now, the guidance issued by the CFTC does not do enough to protect American taxpayers, the board writes.
