Feds wrestle to meet deadline for launching insurance exchanges

HHS and other federal agencies are scrambling to meet the Oct. 1 deadline for launching the health insurance exchanges mandated by the health care law. The agencies are focusing on three priorities: setting up an online portal to let consumers compare plans and sign up; making sure health insurance subsidies can be processed and delivered effectively; and keeping the health care law's individual mandate, which will require most Americans to have health insurance next year.
