Ind. county puts more restrictions on wind project, imposes freeze on new projects

The commissioners of Howard County, Ind., have imposed a freeze on new wind project applications pending a review of the county's wind power ordinance. The commissioners also increased the setback distance of E.ON Climate and Renewables' proposed Wildcat wind farm to 1,500 feet from the nearest nonparticipating property, as well as lowered its sound limit to 50 decibels for nonparticipating residents and 52 decibels for leaseholders. E.ON has not yet signed the revised agreement but has agreed in principle to the alterations.
