Leadership lessons from climbing Mount Everest

Management professor-turned-mountaineer Scott DeRue scaled Mount Everest last year and says the experience forced him to draw on many of the leadership traits he teaches at the University of Michigan's Ross School. Among the most important lessons: the need for business leaders to "set inspirational goals and not allow mediocrity or average to be good enough," DeRue says.
