Stevia continues growth trajectory

With more than 1,100 products sweetened with stevia already launched in 2013, the growth of this zero-calorie sweetener continues. While soft drinks are still the most popular application, dairy launches are also popular, and opportunities exist with cereal bars and energy bars, as well as children's products and sports drinks, said Lu Ann Williams, head of research at Innova Market Insights, who noted food and drink makers must grapple with a range of regulations, as well as formulation challenges.
