Teacher turnover is a concern for some in N.Y. state

Statistics show that nearly one-third of the school districts in the mid-Hudson area of New York state are losing teachers at the rate of 1 in 5 each year, costing up to $50,000 per teacher, according to one study. "It's unfortunate the turnover includes teachers who are throwing in the towel too soon," said Susan Headden of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
