Worldwide M&A volumes projected to top $5 trillion

Analysts are predicting that the pace of merger and acquisitions around the globe will continue and will exceed $5 trillion in 2007. "We think that this current cash-financed M&A boom reflects an undervalued global equity market, particularly relative to debt," Citi analyst Robert Buckland wrote in a recent report. "If jittery equity market investors want to sell, then corporates and private-equity investors are likely to remain ready buyers."
