Health IT objections to spur meaningful-use certification unveiled

The HIT Policy Committee released a set of health IT objectives and measures for health care providers to achieve meaningful-use certification for 2011, 2013 and 2015. The committee also gave providers until 2013 or 2014 to implement electronic health records if they can't do it in 2011. They also recommended that multiple groups be allowed to provide EHR system certifications. Rules on the meaningful use of HIT and provider incentives are expected to be released in December.
