No consensus between FGD-PET, MRI in carotid plaque evaluation

British researchers who conducted both FDG-PET and MRI scans on symptomatic carotid disease patients on the same day found that while the techniques separately helped in identifying and evaluating carotid plaque, merging the two modalities does not present a consensus on plaque assessment. The lead study author said "there may be a different temporal evolution of a single process and each imaging tool is more sensitive to one phase or another."
