Senate committee clears health care reform bill

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee last week voted 13-10 to approve the health care reform bill. While Democrats say the bill will promote universal health coverage and cost-effective health care, Republicans argue that the $1 trillion cost of the bill will lead to more debts and make health care more expensive. Both Democrats and Republicans, however, agree the bill will become part of a single Senate measure when the Finance Committee finishes its version of the bill.
