Texas construction will continue to decline in 2009, report says

The value of Texas construction starts will decline by 21% in 2009, according to a report by McGraw-Hill Construction. The report stated that the drop to $49.8 billion this year is the steepest in more than 30 years. It attributed the decline to the economic recession, the effect of Hurricane Ike and the credit crisis. However, it expects infrastructure construction to increase by 12%.
