AHA: Barriers to meaningful use remain for many hospitals

The American Hospital Association was pleased that the CMS added some flexibility to the final rule on the meaningful use of health information technology but expressed concern that many hospitals still may not be able to meet the rule's objectives. "Given limited vendor capacity and workforce shortages, many hospitals will not have timely access to certified products, since no certified EHR systems are available today," the group said.
