Controllers are furloughed at N.D. Air Force base

The air traffic controllers at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota also control civilian airspace in the region. The base announced that the hours of the 14 controllers were cut last week, but that it has staggered their work schedules to ensure round-the-clock coverage. "The furlough of civilian air traffic controllers will not have a direct impact on the general public or the civil aviation community," said spokesman Tim Flack.
