Micron samples 128Gb MLC NAND flash made with a 16nm process

Micron Technology is sampling 128-gigabit multilevel cell NAND flash memory devices made with a 16-nanometer process. Volume production of the parts is set for the fourth quarter. Micron said the new NAND flash could be used in cloud-based data storage, mobile handsets, removable drives, solid-state drives, tablet computers and ultra-thin devices. The company plans to develop its own line of SSDs with the 16nm NAND flash, which will be marketed next year.
