Moody's says SAFE bill would be beneficial for life insurance industry

The Secure Annuities for Employee Retirement Act, proposed this month by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, would help the life insurance industry in the U.S., according to a credit outlook from Moody's Investors Service. Under the bill, the private market could assist with pension liabilities of local and state governments, which could be underfunded by $4 trillion, according to a report from Hatch.
