Near collisions estimated at 275 in 2012, FAA says

The Federal Aviation Administration estimates there were 275 near collisions between aircraft in 2012, a 600% increase from the 37 near collisions in 2009. However, the U.S. still offers the safest air transportation system across the globe, according to the inspector general for the FAA.
