NSA defunding measure may meet GOP resistance

Some members of the House GOP could try to head off an effort by a fellow Republican to attach a National Security Administration defunding amendment to the defense appropriations bill, a measure that its backer, Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., supports because of revelations of the NSA surveillance of U.S. citizens. To quash such a move, Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, is considering limiting amendments to the appropriations bill, a break from past practice.
