South Africa gains observer status at European Pharmacopeia

The Medicines Control Council of South Africa has joined entities in a number of other African countries in gaining observer status at the European Pharmacopeia, whose publication contains more than 2,000 monographs and 300-plus general chapters on standards and use of active substances and excipients used in medications. South Africa has worked toward greater transparency in recent years through soliciting industry comments on new government drug regulations.
