Study: No evidence that neutrinos are their own antiparticle

Data from an ultrasensitive particle detector revealed no evidence that neutrinos are their own antiparticle -- a claim made by a group of particle physicists in 2001. The study included the use of germanium in the particle detector as physicists searched for signs of a nuclear decay called neutrinoless double-beta, but no evidence of the decay was found. "The data indicate that the past claim is very unlikely to be correct, but there might still be some wiggle room due to the low statistics involved," said neutrino physicist Steven Elliott.
