U.S. inflation accelerates moderately

A jump in gasoline prices boosted the U.S. consumer price index 0.5% in June, up from a 0.1% rise in May. The core index minus volatile food and fuel was up 0.2%. "This is probably going to be a little bit comforting for some of the folks at the [Federal Reserve] who are worried about lower inflation," said Omair Sharif, an economist at RBS Securities.
