Analysis: Hospitals face penalties for patient complications

The worst 25% of hospitals, determined by patient infections and other injuries, will lose 1% of their Medicare payments for a year beginning in October. The sanctions total an estimated $330 million per year, and currently the list of hospitals to be penalized is at 761, though that list may change when it's finalized later this year.
