Mo. education board to hold hearings on new state standards

The Missouri State Board of Education will hold three hearings on new education standards after Gov. Jay Nixon signed a law to revise Common Core State Standards. The new Missouri standards are expected to be in place for the 2016-17 school year, but local districts will still be able to choose their own standards if they do not conflict with those approved by the board.
