Congress to investigate hospital chains on uninsured billing

The House Energy and Commerce Committee sent letters to 20 hospital chains, including Tenet and HCA, to inquire about their billing method for uninsured patients. By law hospitals are required to bill all patients at the same prices, but the committee highlighted one chain that collected 35% of its profit from uninsured patients, who comprise 2% of its clientele.
