FDA to crack down on drug counterfeiters

The recall of more than 150,000 counterfeit bottles of the prescription drug Lipitor has prompted the FDA to form a task force to deal with the fast-growing fake drug market. The FDA, saying that most of these counterfeit drugs leak into the U.S. market through Internet sites or loopholes in the wholesale chain, plans to use higher technology packaging and a stricter oversight of imports to stop counterfeits.
