Merrill Lynch won't move headquarters to WTC site

Merrill Lynch scrapped plans to move its headquarters to one of the new office towers planned for the World Trade Center site being redeveloped in Manhattan. Merrill Lynch, which has been hard hit by the global credit crunch, formally ended talks with the Port Authority and developer Larry A. Silverstein. The site's future is being questioned as the shaky economy eliminates potential tenants.
