New Medicare law boosts mental-health and preventive care

Although the main focus of the recently passed Medicare law was fees paid to medical providers, it also affects the average patient in myriad ways, including lowering out-of-pocket costs for mental-health services and making it cheaper and easier to get a checkup. Medicare Advantage patients could face more restrictions in provider choice, but the law also adds to the number of medications covered.
