Onion farmers turn to vegetables for clean power

Two onion farmers have found a way to extract energy from the vegetable to power their processing plant in Oxnard, Calif. Gills Onions converts methane produced from fermented onion juice into energy stored into fuel cells. Co-owner Steve Gill estimates the $9.5 million system should pay for itself within six years.
