CSX secures more export coal shipments

CSX has recently announced it is boosting its capital investments for the purchase of more trains for export coal deliveries, especially from Somerset, Pa., where Corsa Coal's facility started to send high-heat metallurgical coal for export. Two 80-unit locomotives were already loaded with 16,000 tons of metallurgical coal, which is used by steel and metal producers, according to the company. Meanwhile, CSX and Norfolk Southern have said their trains have been making a growing number of shipments of Appalachian coal for export despite a weak demand in domestic markets.
