Androgen deprivation may harm kidneys of prostate cancer patients

An analysis of data from more than 10,000 men with early-stage prostate cancer found that those who received androgen deprivation therapy were 2.5 times more likely to develop acute kidney injury. The risk of kidney failure was particularly high among men who received combined androgen blockade treatment. The findings were published by the Journal of the American Medical Association.
