FDA plans to issue alerts on disparate device, drug reactions

The FDA is proposing to notify doctors that medical devices and drugs might trigger different reactions from certain patient subpopulations. The plan earned praise from Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., who said, "Where we know that there are racial and ethnic differences in responses to drugs and medical devices, that information should be made routinely and easily available."
