Fed's bond buying will respond to economy, Bernanke says

The Federal Reserve will adjust its bond-buying program as needed to ensure the U.S. economic recovery doesn't stall, Chairman Ben Bernanke says. The central bank could continue the purchase of long-term bonds if the labor market falters, he said. "I emphasize that, because our asset purchases depend on economic and financial developments, they are by no means on a preset course," Bernanke said.
